Understand, reimagine and co-create together.
Our smart and creative tools give us insight and knowledge, fuel dynamic and productive conversations. Enabling teams and organisations to find solutions to their challenges, make sense of complexity and develop future visions and plans. They build empathy and understanding and can emerse you in the world and experiences of others.
Deeply human, our techniques can achieve surprising results. Ask the policymakers who used Lego to find the answers to complex national challenges. The patients and clinicians who found forum theatre allowed them to have conversations that finally cracked a problem they had wrestled with for years. Or the country that used World Cafés to design a national digital strategy in a day.
Here is a selection.
Transformative Conversations
Facilitated group discussions where participants with share ideas, opinions and experiences, socialising their views to reach deep insights. Also used to source and test ideas, concepts, products and services, and gather feedback to refine them.
Play with Purpose: Facilitating Conversations. We use Lego and/or role play to facilitate difficult conversations playfully. It makes it easier for stakeholders to communicate complex or difficult ideas and opinions.
World Café. A workshop format used for sharing and building ideas and solutions, to inspire, understanding and connection. Participants have short facilitated discussions about a topic, capturing their ideas, so others can build on them. Then rotating to the next café table, where they immerse themselves in a different topic.
Focus Groups. Facilitated group discussions where participants with share ideas, opinions and experiences, socialising their views to reach deep insights. Also used to source and test ideas, concepts, products and services, and gather feedback to refine them.
Deliberative Forums & Events. Brings stakeholders together to debate, build shared understanding, innovate, develop ideas and make decisions collectively. Knowledge and information is shared to fuel the conversation. Often used to engage multiple groups with clashing or different perspectives.
Co-creation & Collaboration
Online Collaboration Tools. We use real time collaboration tools such as HowSpace or Miro to engage stakeholders in co-creation activities and conduct real time analysis. We choose the platform right for you, the security, the experience you want to create and your audiences.
We are able to add a mix of AI powered digital tools for live smart sentiment analysis and theme clustering. These can be used in real time, to reach consensus during workshops, or over time to collate information and unearth actionable insights.
Technical, Broadcast and Film. Our online platforms are supported by our technical partners for hybrid and online events. They provide the skills and technology to connect seamlessly, in addition to film and broadcast skills to produce and share powerful content.
We provide one-to-one training and assistance ('Digital Angels') before and during events to ensure that everyone can participate.
Visual Minutes. Capturing stories, experiences and journeys visually, in real time. Used during workshops or key activities as a record and stimulus. Allowing you to communicate stories, facts and emotions in ways which are more easily understood. With far greater ongoing interest than a set of bullet point notes.
The Art of Theatre. Using actors or role play to bring issues to life so that audiences can see and experience/interact with them first-hand. This can be used as a prototyping technique, a way of creating empathy with a problem, or simply to understand and explore an issue or scenario.
Co-creation. Directly involves your stakeholders in the process of creation. Harnessing their wisdom and creative thinking to source ideas, design and develop solutions. Using carefully designed collaborative workshops that encourage the best and most creative thinking, with input from experts and bespoke tools. They are both an experiential learning opportunity and a wonderful way to arrive at new ideas with wide buy in.
Research & Engagement
Place Based Research. An ongoing process of creating relationships, building deep mutual understanding and gathering opinions and views of the stakeholders by immersing ourselves 'with the people - in a place'. This could be a community, a workplace or service. The purpose may be to unearth the challenges or opportunities of a specific group, to socialise, source and co-produce ideas.
Community Drop-ins. We set up a dedicated space in a strategically located venue where participants can easily drop in and engage in live learning and carefully designed research activities. We offer multiple activities to choose from, so participants can engage for one minute or one hour, adjusting to their availability.
Qualitative Research. The use of narrative, not numbers, to understand and describe how people make sense of their world and the experiences they have. Insight and data is gathered from observation, interviews, questionnaires, focus groups, recordings in natural settings, documents, and artefacts. Often used to answer the why's and how's of human behaviour, opinion, and experience.
In-depth Interviews. Semi structured conversations where we explore the deep thoughts of your stakeholders. Telephone, online and face to face (when possible). We create tailored stimuli and use collaboration tools to make interviews interactive and meaningful, and ensure we get the depth needed.
Action-learning. Live testing and learning with key groups, ideally in a dedicated online or in-person environment. Users interact with the knowledge and findings, reflecting, learning and adding to the insights in real time.
Cultural Safaris. Ethnographic research technique where we immerse ourselves in the day-to-day activities of your stakeholders. Capturing their experiences, walking in their shoes together with them. Used to build empathy and deep understanding.
Socialnomics | Our proprietary methodology
Socialnomics is our proprietary methodology which frames our thinking and underpins everything we do. It draws on the principles behavioural science, system change and design thinking - the same human centred design principles used by the likes of Toyato, Apple, Google, Air BnB, GE, countries like Singapore, innovators and health systems around the world. This gives all our work a framework and a clear place to start. It brings pace alongside structure to get you to an outcome sooner rather than later. While applying methodologies and tools which allow you to explore ideas and potential divergently, experiment, design and prototype your thinking fluidly and with rigour, so you can focus in on the greatest potential. Getting you to an outcome you can be confident in, that has support and buy in.
Supported by an expert team, our smart tools and international network to draw learning from. This empowers our beloved clients to transform and achieve exceptional and positive impact.
